Today i am Here to Talk to you about Restful Web services... not slacking off... REST stands for Representational State Transfer, it is a Kind of Web-based Service that connects a server to a Client in a particular way.
I Bring this up because We, The Code Team, have been working hard behind the scenes building a Shiny new web service. It's Purpose is to let the player connect to us.
You may ask, "Why do i care?" or "What does that do for me?" It lets us update the Game Immediately... no waiting for the long approval process on App markets... which helps us deliver the Best Possible Play Experience.
there is also, another big benefit; Each Player's Hero will live in the Cloud, this means that if your phone gets washed or falls out of your pocket, you game will be waiting just where you left it when you log back in (with a new phone, or a friends). You don't have to worry about lost time, or Backing up saves.
We think this is pretty cool, But what do you think? lets us know.
Hey all, Elyse here. Since I don't have much to share about how our guys are plugging away steadily on Divine Reign, I thought I would share with you an interesting thought brought up by an article I read online. I bring to you two questions...Who are tomorrow's gamers, and what will they be playing, and playing it on? With the new Sony and Xbox systems to be announced at E3 next year, what are their competition? Through researching the purchases of our children now, we can gain a hint at what the game atmosphere may be like in the future, and the future looks...mobile. An article on www.gamasutra.com shows us these trends. It looks like there will be alot less of the old parents' headache of children with their eyes an inch away from the TV, because our console couldn't be moved farther, and alot more children playing on the go, anywhere they may be. How this will affect how games are made remains yet to be seen, but you can rest assured that Divine Reign will be designed to be playable comfortably on tablets and smartphones with intricacies built in to make on-the-go gaming even more comfortable than ever. Check out this article, and browse the site, if you've never visited it before.
Hey, this is Colby, and I'm here today to ask you all a question. What is it that makes a good story? There are a lot of different ways to approach the subject, but in the end, most answers can be traced back to a central theme. That is, what is the meaning of the story. Most stories have some overarching "theme" or "message" that its creators wished to express. Stories are like wrapping paper. They are designed to cover the real meaning behind the words that were written. As such, stories can have an excellent presentation, but have a hideous theme. (Like finding sweaters on Christmas when your five). While, on the flip side, stories can have poor execution but excellent themes. It's common sense then, that the best stories are those with an excellent theme, and an equally excellent presentation. One without the other is disastrous. A good story needs a good theme. That being said, we've worked hard at the studio to develop both. Every race has a theme, and a fitting story specially developed for them. These individual themes constitute the main story, complimenting, rather than detracting from, the main theme.
