Despite having Issues with my car, being ill, and generally having far too little time to do Everything/Anything; there is actually progress being made on Divine Reign. Today, I have decided to give you all a peek at how the game is shaping up.
The Picture to the left is an actual screen shot... not a mock-up, not a concept, this is actual code that actually runs. Here you can see the intended UI, and several examples of the font faces in action.
Please, bear in mind that this is very much a work in progress; However As you can see, the Main Buttons, and general layout are in place. Some of the art assets are just temporary, and not the final versions (e.g. the Portrait in the lower right, and the parchment background.)
We feel that this is a good direction for the game, but we are certainly interested in your feedback; so, please leave comments/Questions using the boxes below; we would love to hear from you... More Art and Screenshots are forthcoming, look for them in the Coming Weeks.
So I just turned 20 today, and I can honestly say... I don't feel all that different. I do want to note that I'm pretty happy with my life so far, and I'm glad that I get to be apart of such and awesome team of such talented people, making a video game! When I was little playing super smash bros. on my brothers N64, I would've never thought I'd be apart of this industry. . . Funny how things turn out.
Anywho, that's enough nostalgia before I start turning all... "Did I ever tell you kids about..."
Seriously though February brings lots of exciting things; Lots of games are coming out this month that I'm excited for, Valentines, the holiday where I get lots of cute stuffed animals and all the chocolate I can eat... Last but definately not least: Kickstarter is THIS MONTH.... WOOO!!! I'm so stoked for this!
Anywho, here's wishin' you all a happy February!

Here the writer posits that programmers Code at night to avoid Distractions, which I know from personal experience is true... but, in my opinion, that is not the only reason.
Don't get me wrong I am as ADHD as the next person and sometimes the Shinny things steal my attention, but that is not the mainstay of why I tend to code at night.
Here is why I Code at Night, and feel free to Comment below about how wrong I am...
1) I have a Day Job.(which is also Programming job)
I have a regular 9-5, on top of being a full-time student, so my day is pretty full; I can't help but work at night.
2) I have to be Social SOMETIME.
We Humans are Social Creatures, so we tend to behave in social or group behaviors. Which takes time away from Doing Programming work... unfortunately the work still has to get done, so it ends up being at night.
3) Programmers are Machines that turn Caffeine into Code.
When working on a project whether in the day or night, getting a little boost from the sugar and Caffeine in a beverage, such as the ever Classic Mountain Dew, is often helpful to Knock loose a few brains cells and get things rolling; Unfortunately (or fortunately, i am not sure) when drinking a Dew at night it also makes the programming session last longer.
While this list is by no means conclusive, these are the main reasons I tend to Code at night... although there is always the possibility that I am just a run of the mill Night-Owl and I use Coding as an excuse to stay up.
Now, I want to hear from all the Night-Owls out there; what do you do while burning away the Night Hours, and why?
